Lush Review | Ectoplasm Jelly Bomb

Hi, Today I've got a review I've been very excited to write as I've finally tried a jelly bomb. I think the first concept of the Jelly bomb was shown at the 2016 Lush showcase (it looked very different) and I've wanted to try it since because it just seemed so weird. If you read my recent Lush Haul you'll know that I had to make two visits to the Leeds store as they hadn't got the Jelly Bombs in yet on my first visit. I honestly would have bought more but at £4.95 I decided that one was enough to start with and so I picked the most Halloween themed Ectoplasm.

Ectoplasm Jelly Bomb

Another reason this was the first jelly bomb I choose was the scent. It's full of citrus oils in the form of Tangerine and Grapefruit Oil which is my favourite. I've read some reviews saying that their bombs didn't dissolve so I want to say that my bath was run with just hot water which might make a difference. I think the bath bomb looks quite muted in tones but once it hits the water a luminous green spews out from the jelly discs complemented by the bright purple (my camera didn't pick up the true colours).

The ectoplasm jelly bomb features a little ghost on one side, this motif is individual to the Ectoplasm jelly bomb and there are lots of different motifs across the jelly bomb range. One thing they all have in common is the construction style of a mixture of the normal bath bomb mixture along with discs that are seaweed infused. It's the seaweed within these discs that create the slime texture.

Onto the jelly! It's weird, but so fun. As a concept of slime the jelly works really well within this Halloween themed jelly bomb, I'm not so sure I'd enjoy the idea so much with a different style of bath bomb. I'm aware that the texture of the jelly is putting people off, but by the time I'd added some cold water to level out the water temperature the jelly had all but gone before I got into the bath. Have fun with it and then make sure it's all dissolved if you don't fancy being covered in the stuff. 

I can't say I found that the seaweed that creates the slime was that silky in the water like cocoa butter feels but my skin did feel really soft after my bath. The water ends up the most bright luminous green/yellow which was a totally different colour to any other Lush product I've used which was a nice change.

A Little Lush Haul

Hi, I ended up doing two small shops in Lush not far apart so I decided to share what I've been buying. I've got a total of four products which are all new to me. I orignally visited the Leeds Lush store to pick up one of the new jelly bombs but at the time they hadn't made it to that store. I couldn't not buy anthing so I picked up the first two items a Never Mind The Ballistics bath bomb and a Yellow Submarine bath bomb. On my second visit I was happy to see the store full of all the Halloween and Christmas stock but I restrained myself as I have way too many products I already needed to use. I finally picked up one of the jelly bombs Ectoplasm and a Rocket Science bath bomb because it was too fun not to buy.

Never Mind The Ballistics Bath Bomb
This bath bomb looks so sad in the photo because the cocoa butter coating on the top has dryed out so much the whole bomb is falling apart (I've had it about a month). This is without a doubt a bath bomb that doesn't last long in the open air, I forgot to pack it away. I love the cocoa butter bath bombs as they are so softening and it smells so good.

Lush description: These aren’t ingredients for anybody else except for yourself. Lime and sweet wild orange oils are fresh and peachy on the nose, exciting the senses and shaking up your mood. There’s no time for apathy in the bath, so this anarchic bath bomb fizzes and rolls and spews colour with no holds barred energy. Fair Trade cocoa butter melts alongside fresh bananas to soften both the water and your skin. God save the clean; this deserves a replay.

Yellow Submarine Bath Bomb
I got this one just because the design is fun and I wanted to see this little submarine tugging along around my bath. I think the colour mix with this one is going to be so nice in the tub and is a fun cheaper alternative to the classic bath bombs.

Lush description: Why take a plane when you can take a submarine? Start off in the hustle and bustle of the city, submerge and let the waves wash over you, waking up on a tropical island with coconut scent gently blowing through the trees. A cocktail of Brazilian orange, lemongrass and coriander seed oil will enliven the senses and transport you to sunny shores, until pink and yellow sunsets ground you in the most spectacular bath.

Rocket Science Bath Bomb
I think I saw this bomb on the Lush instagram and instantly wanted it. It's one of the cheapest bath bombs at only £2.95 so would make a lovely stocking filler. The blue and yellow looks like it's going to make the most awesome patterns in the bath. There's even tiny little stars in the rocket blast, can't wait to see what happens to them.

Lush description: Blast off to another world with this mix of uplifting bergamot and lemon. It’s smooth soaring to beautiful bath waters as mellow yellow fizzes with deep blue and pink. Lower onto the surface of the water, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride as it leisurely glides around the bath. You'll love this to the moon and back.

Ectoplasm Jelly Bomb
I finally got hold of a jelly bath bomb and I'm super excited to try this and review it. I'm not sure if this is a Halloween exclusive product and will disapear. I picked it as it was the most halloween themed of the bunch and there's a lot of jelly bomb variations. I was also swayed into picking this one because it's full of citrus oils and so has my favourite scent.

Lush description: For soaks from the other side, launch this slimer into the water and let the gooey jelly ooze across the surface. Made from brown seaweed, it softens your skin as it goes. If you're feeling ghoulish, the uplifting tangerine, grapefruit and restorative litsea cubeba oils will have you in high spirits in no time. Take the gunge.

Lush Review | Big Blue Bath Bomb

Hi, Today I'm reviewing Lush's Big Blue bath bomb. I don't know how but after repurchasing this bath bomb so many times I haven't reviewed it, I'm putting that right today. From my experience of claiming this bath bomb to be one of my favourites it seems to be a love it or hate it affair.

Big Blue Bath Bomb

Big blue is vibrant blue on the bottom and white on the top, detailed with an embossed Lush logo. A classic style bath bomb with a really fresh scent, there are normally visible hints of the seaweed hiding within. A very fast fizzer that doesn't last long, it's not got the best bath art but it's got so much more to offer. It's available all year round and is one of the Lush product I pick up if I want something familiar.

The bath bomb contains a mixture of Arame Seaweed, Fine Sea Salt, Lemon oil and Lavender oil. The seaweed softens in the water and releases iodine which helps to regulate the metabolism. The sea salt softens the skin while the oils add calming scents and antiseptic properties. This is a bath bomb I always reach for when I need a real therapeutic bath rather than one for the visual pleasure but I think it looks pretty dam cool.

The water is incredibly soft and after a long soak my skin always feels so much softer and refreshed. The colour of the water is this lovely turquoise blue/green depending on the lighting. As well as the change in water colour you get a really interesting effect in the water from the seaweed, which is what from my experience puts people off, I like it. My bath required a bit of a wash down after use but that's a norm with Lush bath bombs. If you're after a refresh then this is your bath bomb.

Lush Review | Ups-A-Daisy Bath Bomb

Hi, Today I've got a review of the Ups-A-Daisy bath bomb which was part of the Mother's day collection. It's still available online (at the time of me writing this post) so I'm sure it's still in store to pick up. This is a really pretty bath bomb and the shape makes a nice change from the more traditional style.

Ups-A-Daisy Bath Bomb

The bath bomb contains a mixture of Rosewood oil, Orange oil and Rose absolute, it has a lovely citrus and floral scent. As you can see from the photos Ups-A-Daisy has different colours on either side, these mix together to create the deepest orange. Due to it's shape and the fact that it was a very slow fizzer the bath bomb bubbled away and created a sun burst in the bath water. I instantly noticed how soft the water felt using this bath bomb and my skin was really moisturised after my bath.

Another thing I found interesting about this bath bomb was the amount of bubbles it created, I find bath bombs leave the water a little flat but this one created lots of bubbles. Ups-A-Daisy also contains the tiniest amount of glitter luster which gave the water a little sparkle but not enough to transfer to skin once you get out of the tub. In contrast the scent stuck around which was a lovely little extra as it smelt so good. If I was gifted this bath bomb I'd be over the moon so Lush have done good with this one.

A Little Lush Haul

Hi, I popped to Lush recently and even though I have an insane stash of Lush products already I gave in and picked up a few bits. I think I did well only picking up three products as there was so many new things to try with the Mother's day and Easter collections to tempt me.

I can't help but pick out products that are somewhat colour coordinating. I'm yet to try any of the dipped bath bombs so I'm looking forward to trying Over and Over. I picked up big blue which is an all time favourite and one I don't think I've ever reviewed on the blog. Ups-A-Daisy was too pretty to not pick up.

Ups-A-Daisy Bath Bomb
Part of the mothers day collection with spring vibes is this pretty flower shaped bath bomb. It's a mixture of herbal and citrus scents, I can't wait to see how pretty this one is in the bath.

Big Blue Bath Bomb
This is one of the most softening bath bombs I've every used. It contains a mixture of sea salt and seaweed, it's not for everyone but I personally love it. 

Over and Over Bath Bomb 
What makes this bath bomb so different is the dipped coating of Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter on top. This bath bomb smells amazing with a very strong sweet citrus scent which is a favourite of mine. I can't wait to see what's hiding inside.

Lush Review | Fizzbanger Bath Bomb

Hi, Today I've got a little review of the Fizzbanger bath bomb which was one of a few bath bombs I picked up from the Lush Oxford store way too long ago. This is one of the simplest looking bath bombs I've picked up in a long time but it didn't disappoint.

Fizzbanger Bath Bomb

The bath bomb contains a mixture of Cinnamon Leaf Oil, Petitgrain Oil and Ylang Ylang Oil. Designed to create a fun and relaxing bath that smells reminiscent of apple pie. With most Lush bath bombs there is a surprise waiting inside with the added blue pigment which turns the water from bright yellow to the most vibrant green which made me think of lime jelly. There's an extra little surprise but I won't spoil that bit if you do try this bomb.

This bath bomb also contains popping candy which send it swirling round the bath tub creating blue tails of bubbles as it goes. While it is not that most showy option from Lush it is a really lovely bath bomb. It smells really fresh and fruity and the colour was so pretty. I would really love to use this bath bomb again in the future.

Lush Review | Lava Lamp Bath Bomb

Hi, I’ve had the Lava Lamp bath bomb patiently waiting for me to use it for way too long. I finally got around to trying it today and wanted to share my thoughts on this product. As soon as I knew this Oxford street exclusive product had been made available nationwide in conjunction with last years father’s day range I knew I wanted to try it, why it's taken me so long to actually use is a mystery to me.

Lava Lamp Bath Bomb – Groovey Baby

The look of this bomb is very striking, with the contrasting colours of orange and purple that work so well together. What gives this bomb its name is the purple dots of Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter that melt in the water to recreate the classic lava lamp effect in your bath tub. I’m a massive fan of citrus scents so this bath bomb ticked that box. A mixture of mandarin, tangerine and orange flower gives this bomb the power to wow on scent. The overall purpose of the bath bomb is to be moisturising and uplifting.


Once popped in the bath the bomb fizzed and melted and created the most spectacular mixture of orange and purple swirling together. The smell was so good and as promised very uplifting. This is only the second cocoa butter product I've used (Shoot for the Stars was the first) but these types of bath bombs are becoming a firm favourite. The oils do make a bit of a mess and the bath required a good wipe down after but my skin feels so soft and moisturised. My finally conclusion for this bath bomb is that I need to pick up another one as soon as possible.

Lush Review | Northern Lights Bath Bomb

Hi, Today I've got a little review of the Northern Lights bath bomb which was one of many Lush products I received for Christmas. This product was part of the Christmas range so is no longer available but I still wanted to share my opinion. Northern Lights was re-released with a new look design after it's much longer and thinner original was prone to breaking and as such ruining the visual effect of this bath bomb.

Northern Lights Bath Bomb

The bath bomb contains a mixture of Jasmine Absolute and Ylang Ylang Oil which made the water really silky and smelt great. Each end of the bath bomb is filled with either blue or yellow which work to create a firework display in the bath water. Design wise this is a really interesting bath bomb, it acts in a totally different way to normal designs twisting and creating spirels of colour.

My biggest issue with this bath bomb was once all the lovely coloured foam dispersed you're left with this weird green/red water which just wasn't that nice to look at. I'd like this bath bomb more if it had a surprise inside like some stars or a little bit of glitter, it would have just finished it off. I enjoyed the visual effect of the bath bomb but that's about all, it's not one I'll rush to try again.

Lush Review - Luxury Lush Pud | #BLOGMAS Day 17

Hi, I'm back with my last Christmas Lush review for the Luxury Lush Pud. It's one of the first ever Lush products I tried, I received it in a gift box one Christmas many years ago. It's a bomb I normally overlook for the new releases but this year I decided I wanted to use a classic.

Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb – A Recipe For Unwinding

It is a mainly pink bath bomb with a white frosting inspired top decorated with holly, the rest is decorated with brightly coloured dots which give this bath bomb a very fun look. The four main ingredient in the bath bomb are Lavender oil, Benzoin Resinoid, Tonka Absolute and Ylang Ylang Oil. It is designed to smell irresistibly tasty just like the real thing and works to create a calming sensation to help you drift off to sleep, a perfect choice for Christmas Eve.

This bath bomb in the water is a kaleidoscope of colour. The main part of the bath bomb fizzes away turning the water a subtle shade of pink, while the dots drift off to create patterns of colour. I believe there was the slightest touch of luster in this bath bomb as my water was sparkling. The scent of this product didn't stand up to being diluted in the water which was a shame. Overall I think this is a fun bath bomb and a pretty one to watch but it's not one of my favourites.

Lush Haul

Hi, Last Sunday I took a little trip into Leeds with my family to go for some food and a few drinks in the city center to celebrate Father’s day. I’m really lucky that it’s only a 20 minuet train ride away so I get to hang out in this amazing city quite often. One thing my home town is missing is a Lush store so whenever I get the chance I have a little stock up on bath time goodies (I need to branch out and try some of the skincare range but I fear for my bank balance).

I bought four bath bombs and almost popped a Brightside bubble bar in my basket but I still have some bubble bar left so resisted. I’d been roughly counting up the price and expected £12 only it was more like £15 and I'm not going to lie I felt a little ill at how much I’d just spent on bath bombs (totally worth it but ouch). I’ll stop rambling and share what I bought with you, expect reviews of the following at some point in the near future.

Sakura - Blooming lovely

This bomb is named after the Japanese cherry blossom tree which it was inspired by. It's a subtle pink bath bomb with these interesting looking green crystals on top. I'm really into anything Japanese inspired so this bomb was high on my list of ones to try. I've heard mixed reviews about the overall aesthetic of this bomb so I can't wait to review it. Containing a mixture of calming Mimosa and Jasmine oils which are complimented by the mixture of Lemon and Orange flower oil to evoke the feeling of the start of spring.

Twilight – Let the sun set on worries

Another bomb I was drawn to because of it's point of inspiration. Lush bath bombs that are inspired by the nights sky and the universe are some of the pretties once in the tube so I had to pick up a Twilight bomb to give ago. This bomb is designed to help you sleep with a mixture of calming and relaxing ingredients including Lavender oil and Ylang Ylang oil.

Lava Lamp – Groovy Baby

I was really excited to the see that lava lamp had been released nationwide for Fathers day as I believe it was an Oxford exclusive until then. I think this is a really interesting looking bomb and something male Lush fans would probably opt for. The name perfectly explains this bath bomb as once it's in the water the purple discs of essential oils melt and create a lava lamp effect on the water. It smells amazingly fresh and very much of citrus because of the Tangerine and Orange flower Oil.

Big Blue – Float Your Cares Away

Amongst all the new bath bombs I wanted to pick up an old favourite so I chose a Big Blue. This is one of the best bombs I've used for actually making my skin feel amazing afterwards. Inspired by the sea this bomb contains kelp (which might sounds a bit gross) and fine sea salt but this bomb really works. It's not just pretty it also has health benefits from all the lovely minerals within the kelp.

Lush Review | Intergalactic Bath Bomb

Hi, I've got another Lush bath bomb review for you today. I've been super excited to use this after all the amazing images I've seen of this bath bomb in action. Intergalatic as you can imagine is inspired by the universe and the beautiful patterns of the night sky. I actually bought this bomb back before Christmas how it's taken me so long to finally get around to trying it I'll never know.

Intergalactic Bath Bomb - Blast Off Into Funky

The bath bomb itself is a wounder before it even hits the water, it's a predominantly bright blue bomb flecked with strips of neon yellow and pink. It has a very distinct scent of mint which I personally found a little over powering but once in the water it was lovely and relaxing.

This bath bomb contains a mixture of grapefruit, Vetivert, Cedarwood and Peppermint oil designed to be both uplifting and grounding. It also contains popping candy and gold luster which erupts from the bath bomb as it dances around the bath creating galaxies in the dark blue water representing the nights sky.

In honesty I think the scent put me off using this bath bomb, I was worried it would leave me wanting to end my bath rather earlier than normal but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this bomb. Visually this bath bomb has two totally different stages and that really impressed me. The first is the galaxy patterns created by the fizz and pop of the bomb. The second stage is the beautiful dark blue water with sparkling glitter which looks like twinkling stars.

Once I finished my bath and emptied the tub I was amazed by the amount of glitter luster, it was quite possibly the most glitter I've ever seen in a bath bomb, it was amazing and rivaled the Frozen bath bomb. As with all glitter containing bath bombs the bath required a quick rinse down but it's worth it for the beauty of this bomb.

Lush Review | Dragon Egg Bath Bomb

Hi, Today I've got another Lush review to share. Dragon Egg is actually a product I've used before but always while staying away so I've never had the chance to review it before. I was super excited to try this product again because I remember enjoying it so much plus I really wanted to review it. This bath bomb is one of my boyfriends favorites, I think it's because it's one of the more masculine bombs, in theme anyway.

Dragon Egg Bath Bomb - Feel Ready to Soar 

Originally in my eyes Dragon Egg didn't look all that special but don't let looks deceive you. The first time I picked up this product the super friendly sales assistant asked the Boyfriend what he was looking for and she suggested this bomb. It's a very pale bomb with a few flashes of colour in the form of confetti on first view. I think that's what I love about this bath bomb, it's the surprise of just how exciting it really is once it's in the tub doing it's thing.

Dragon Egg contains popping candy and hidden gold glitter luster which erupts from the center of the bomb. Along with the multi coloured confetti, it really is a showy bath bomb. At only £3.50 I think it is a great product for the wow factor. The scent of the bomb is very much like lemon sherbet created by all the citrus oils accompanied by Jasmine extract. The water turns a lovely orange filled with the sparkle of the glitter lustre, it's a perfect representation of a dragons hoard of gold.

If you want a bomb that gives a good show them this is one to try. The gold luster is easily washed out of the bath after use but the glitter does tend to hang around on the skin for a while after. My boyfriend had a glittery beard after using Dragon Egg which made me laugh so much.

Lush Review | Honey Bee Bath Bomb

Hi, I popped into my local Lush the other day with the intention of picking up some long standing Lush products that I've previously over looked with the intention of reviewing them. One of the products I picked up was the Honey Bee bath bomb.

Honey Bee Bath Bomb - Take the Sting Out

At £3.50 this is one of the cheaper bath bombs in the Lush range, it contains a mixture of Honey, Aloe Vera and Rhassoul mud to create a wonder trio of calming and antiseptic properties. The aesthetic of the bomb is pleasing as I can picture a little face on this and it would look just like a bee with the clever use of strips of colour. The scent of Honey Bee is sweet and fresh, I was thinking of food when I sniffed it and realised that was the honey I could smell.

The water turns to a shade of amber reminiscent of honey as the bomb slowly dissolves. Honey Bee took ages to disappear completely and on inspection there where weird little lumps within the bomb which I can only think was how they incorporate the clay into the mix. Honey Bee was surprisingly softening on my skin which I think was down to the added clay.

The scent seems to get stronger once added to the water and lingers for a long time. The overall appearance of the Honey Bee bath bomb in use isn't that amazing, there is some fizzing but that's your lot. The colour is questionable but what I expected from the colour of the bath bomb itself. The clay residue required cleaning from the bath afterwards which was something I wasn't expecting. I enjoyed Honey Bee but I don't think it will be a regular purchase.

Lush Review | Frozen Bath Bomb

Hi, I finally got around to trying the Lush Frozen bath bomb so here is my review to share with you. This is the first product I've used from the Oxford Street range, it is now available nation wide. Even though it isn't from the Christmas range I think it fits in quite nicely with the winter theme. Obviously inspired by the Disney hit film 'Frozen' the tag line for the product is 'let it go' and who wouldn't with the princess perfect bath bomb.

Frozen Bath Bomb - £3.95 

Frozen contains a mixture of Grapefruit, Neroli and Rose oil which are said to be uplifting for your mood. The visual display of this bath bomb is enough to melt anyone's frosty mood. Creating a deep blue colour within the water covered in a silver luster which makes the water magically sparkle. I really enjoyed this bath bomb the scent is rather subtle with a slight hint of citrus, I'm rubbish at explaining smells.

I tried to photograph the silver glitter but failed, this is a bath bomb you really need to try to see the true beauty of the swirling silver within the water. The bomb fizzes releasing the most intense blue/turquoise colour which I was really surprised about as the bomb isn't that pigmented. After my bath I still had glitter on my skin which I personally don't mind and makes me think that this is the perfect pre night out bath bomb. The bath did need a little washing down after to remove all the glitter but there was no stainage from the colour, which is always a bonus. All in all I think Frozen is now one of my favourite Lush products and I can't wait to pick up another one.

A Little Lush Haul

Hi, Last Sunday I went shopping with my sister in Leeds. We had a lovely time and the sun stayed out so I got to wear my denim jacket for probably the last time this year. One of the places I wanted to visit the most was the Lush store. Last year Lush Leeds relocated into a bigger retail space, with this selling an even bigger range of products. I was shocked by just how busy the store was, with that in mind, it was quite difficult to see everything. I picked up some really nice things, so here's a little haul as I wanted to share what I picked up with you.

I avoided the themed ranges as the store was just too busy and I didn't want to go crazy and spend too much if I could help it. In total I picked up three bath bombs (two of which are new releases) and my all time favourite Lush product the Brightside bubble bar. The bath bombs I choose where Big Blue, Frozen and Intergalactic making my purchase quite a blue themed one. I will be doing full reviews on these products once I've used them.

Brightside - £4.95
I haven't tried that many Lush products, I'm a creature of habit and like what I like. This product has never disappointed me and this must be the 5th bar I've bought. It smells of citrus and creates so many bubbles (the advantage of this product over a bath bomb). I did a full review of this product here. 

Big Blue - £3.50
This product makes me feel like a mermaid. An old favourite which is inspired by the sea. The product contains Arame Seaweed, which softens in the water. I know the idea of seaweed isn't to every ones taste but everyone should try this bath bomb at least once. The seaweed works to help regulate the metabolism and there is sea salt to soften the skin.

Frozen - £3.95
The lovely sales assistant showed us this bath bomb in action. If I wasn't already planing on picking this one up I'd have been sold as soon as the silver luster erupted. It made the water such a lovely shade of blue and there was so much glitter. When you read the description of this bomb on the website it sounds absolutely magical, it's a blatant rip off of Disney's 'Frozen' which is an even bigger reason to love it.

Intergalactic - £3.95
I'm hoping this bomb will make a decent replacement for the Space Girl bath bomb which is now discontinued. Intergalactic from what I can tell is all about the show of colour as it releases different colours into the water. I need to remember to have my camera ready for this one. This one contains gold luster, so yet more glitter.

Lush Review | Space Girl Bath Bomb

Hi, Today I've got a little review of the Lush Space Girl bath bomb or should I say a moan that this will be my last ever Space Girl (sad times). This is one of my all time favorite lush products. One of the cheaper bath bombs, a little bit smaller but no less amazing. I think it was about £2.50 (maybe less) which for one bath is quite expensive but okay if I really want to treat myself. This is a bath bomb that doesn't come packed with added essential oils, it's all about fun and the show element of a bath bomb.

Shaped like a space ship you launch it into a filled bath and watch it spin and create a red and purple colour show. The thing I like most about this bath bomb is the small amount of glitter hidden within which just gives a shimmer to the water. The water will turn a lovely deep pinky purple and smells really subtly of a fruity blackcurrant scent. The bath bomb contains bergamot, grapefruit and almond oils.

Sadly Lush has decided to discontinue this bath bomb along with a few other products to make way for products to be released nationwide from the exclusive collection at the Oxford street store. I have mixed feelings of loss for a favorite but excitement for the new offerings that will be released. So if you fancy trying this bath bomb grab one while you can, it has already disappeared from the Lush website so good luck.
